Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Elder Vaughn Morton was born
in west Texas and lived there until he and his
family moved to California
in 1946. In 1955, he received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus’ name in
Modesto, California. He attended Bro. J.E. Rode’s church in Modesto until 1960, when
he began evangelizing.
In 1972, Elder Morton came to Fresno to preach a revival. During that revival, Bro. Layne, the pastor
of Truth Tabernacle at that time, felt his call to leave Fresno.
After much prayer and careful consideration, Elder Morton and the saints
of Truth Tabernacle determined that it was the will of God for him to stay on
as the pastor.
During Elder Morton’s time in Fresno, the church has experienced much
growth. He has overseen the building of
a larger sanctuary, the forming of a Christian school, and the growth of the
Sunday School and Bus Ministry. Because
Elder Morton’s vision and burden for Fresno,
Truth Tabernacle has also started five daughter works in other areas of Fresno and Clovis
and an onsite Southeast Asian ministry.
